The Cellars
Located in cellars with centuries of history, Experiencia Fonseca allows the visitor to get to know the uniqueness of the Douro Valley, the role Fonseca has played in sustainable viticulture, and also learn how Port wine is made. It also includes the possibility to test the ability to identify the aromas of Port wine.
Visitors will learn about the history of Fonseca and its world-famous wines.
With spectacular views over the city of Porto and the famous Luis I bridge, guests will learn about Fonseca's role in the production of some of the best wines in the world: the Fonseca Vintages and about the versatility of Port wine for gastronomic associations where they can also leave their own suggestions.
The Fonseca Experience
The Fonseca Experience costs €10 and includes a commented tasting of the famous Fonseca Bin nº 27 in the historic tasting room. Fonseca is family-friendly and offers activities for children. Children's tickets (from 8 to 17 years old) are €5 and include cookies and grape juice from the Douro Valley, served in a Port wine glass allowing younger guests to toast with their parents. A family package for 2 adults and 2 children, including a Bin nº 27 tasting for the adults and Douro valley grape juice and cookies for the children costs €25.
For visitors who are very interested in learning more about Fonseca Port wines, several tasting sets with various wines are available. The "Introduction to Fonseca" is a commented tasting of Fonseca references that include Siroco, Bin Nº 27, 20 Year Old Tawny and Fonseca Vintage 2009.
Other wine experiences allow you to combine the latest Fonseca Vintages with chocolates. If you truly wish to experience the best of Fonseca, the Fonseca Vintages Classics experience which includes vintages from 1985, 1997, 2003, 2007 and 2017 is ideal. Tasting Room
For those who wish to taste Fonseca's exceptional Port wines, the tasting room has a wide range of Port wines by the glass.
Several side dishes are available to complement the tasting, including cheese and/or sausage dishes; chocolate, almonds, olives and other delicacies. A monthly Fonseca Port wine-based cocktail is also available for those curious about new Port wine experiences.
Groups can be welcomed into a private tasting area that overlooks the historic area of Porto. Fado in the cellars, cocktails and other guided tastings are available in this unique space, situated in the cellars among the Port wine barrels.
For those who wish to complement their visit by buying wine to enjoy on their return home, our store, located among the barrels, offers the entire Fonseca range.
We also offer a variety of Fonseca merchandising and other items to complement the wine.
Visit + Tasting + Dinner + Fado
Fonseca Cellars invite you to a sensorial, intimate and exclusive experience, not to be missed, on every Saturday starting on March 2nd. The experience begins at 7pm with a guided tour of the Cellars and the tasting of the iconic Siroco, a dry white Port wine from Casa Fonseca.
This is followed by a special dinner amidst the casks and vats where the mythical Fonseca Port wines age. The dinner includes three traditional Portuguese dishes to the sound of one of the greatest symbols of Portuguese culture, Fado. The initiative takes place on Saturdays, from March 2nd 2024, between 7pm and 10pm, and from May 3rd until August 3rd on Fridays and Saturdays, between 7pm and 10pm. It is limited to a maximum of 40 people per night.
PROGRAM:
7pm: Visit to the Fonseca Cellars, with a tasting of the Fonseca Siroco Port Wine.
8pm - 10pm: Three-course dinner, to the sound of Fado music.
PRICE: 75€/person + 37,5€/Child aged 5-12. The ticket includes a guided tour to the Fonseca Cellars and a special dinner, to the sound of Fado.
