23 Apr 2017

Fonseca will launch a 2015 Vintage Port under the Guimaraens brand.
Managing Director Adrian Bridge, commented, "As this is the year we celebrate Fonseca's 200th anniversary, I am delighted that 2015 has produced a Vintage of exceptional quality. It will be marketed under the Guimaraens brand, with a special label alluding to the bicentennial." He added, "While the 2015 Vintages are seductive and accessible to the nose, they have chunky, firm tannins. The 2015 Guimaraens Vintage may be consumed young, but it will not disappoint those who decide to save it for later drinking."

Fonseca's winemaker, David Guimaraens, underlined: "A very dry spring and summer gave rise to lower yields but the health of the grapes was undoubtedly one of the best of recent years. A balanced ripeness gave the 2015 the firm but well-integrated tannins that characterize the wines of this vintage."Guimaraens Vintage is produced in years when it is not declared a Fonseca Vintage and is usually softer and more elegant while young. Although it is an excellent choice to be consumed while still young it has great depth and vigor that allow it to evolve in the bottle.Guimaraens Vintage 2015 will be available in the markets later this year.
